weekend work
We made some good progress over the weekend. I had a bit of a fiddle with the new wiring loom. It was very easy to wire up thanks to all the wires being numbered. The loom is almost identical to the original unit. The wires are all the same colors, they use the same tape in the same spots. Apparently they use the original plans from holden to recreate as close a reproduction as possible. I think its worthwhile spending the $$ on new wiring now just to avoid future electrical problems down the track. I put new globes in the dash for warning lights etc. Interestingly the smaller globes cost double the bigger ones. I had trouble matching the old specifications to newer specs. The old globes are rated in candlepower. New ones are in watts but they don't correspond exactly since they measure different things.. I'm using 4watts for most dash lights, 3watts for high beam dash light, 6 watts for numberplate light and if I remember correctly 6 watts for the interior roof light.
The roof lining is half installed. Rear tail lights are installed and a little bit of rear chrome is installed. The roof lining pattern is called cream crackle. The original pattern is not currently available off the shelf..
Some photos in the album.
Cheers
Peter.
