Finished front seat
I got news from the trimmer that the front bench seat is finished and the rear seat isn't far off.
Heres a picture that the trimmer has forwarded to me of the front seat.
It looks like a very good reproduction of the original. Colors look good and it has a original pattern embossed into the seat. According to Grandad the original embossing pattern on the upper part of the seat was a key feature to the late model FC's. It was really important that if I was doing anything with the seats, this feature had to stay.
After quiet a few months of waiting, a lot of chasing down by the timmer and even some manufacturing, the trimmer was able to come through with a great embossing result.
The seat frame isn't actually the original seat. Grandads original seats were in too good condition to tear apart and replace.
Since I expect the car will get a reasonable amount of use I didn't know if the original seats would start to fall apart after heavy use.
I'd say the original seats will probably sit in the shed as seating with some seat covering.
The new seats ones I got from the wreckers at kapunda. Since the seats metal frames had a little surface rust I got them blasted by Adelaide Fast Blast and then powercoated. Then Stinky the trimmer finished the seat off with new foam and vinyl.
