2010 Update
Hi All,
Its been a little while since the last update. Progress on the car has been slow / steady over XMAS / New Year break. Lauren, her brother Ryan and myself were in tassy for a couple weeks so the project was on hold during that period.
Fast forward to this week / current project status. The brief summary is that we are getting closer to getting the car finished. I'd estimate a matter of 2 or 3 weeks and we will be very close to having it finished then.
Heres the details on a few items.
On the weekend myself and Adam headed up to the Barossa to find some rare parts for the car. We had success in getting a couple bits that I couldn't find anywhere else.
I made a rear seat /boot seperator out of masonite from Bunnings and installed it in the car. Dug out the jigsaw and had the item finished in 45mins or so. When I had the seat out I found a small tear in the roof lining under the rear seat. I hope this doesn't spread any further !!
Next job was to chase up an exhaust system. The original FC exhaust was totally buggered and falling apart my hands.
I pulled the exhaust out of the parts car to see if it we could use it as a template. I noticed it didn't fit that well so wasn't 100% sure how good a template it was.
I went and saw the guys at AAA exhausts today with the exhausts in the boot to have a chat and see what the best option was. It was going to be hard to get the car down to the workshop with no exhaust fitted. Fortunately they can still source the original spec pipes off the shelf and I can fit them at home.
They aren't stainless and need to come from perth - otherwise I'm very happy that we can still get off the shelf bits for the old girl. $370 included engine pipe, muffler and tail pipe - complete system !!
Another item ordered today was a battery. I've been pondering for a while regarding what battery to get for the FC. I asked the guru's on the FC internet forums and got pointed in the direction of a battery supplier in Melbourne. They are able to supply a reconditioned rubber type battery which should suit the period of the car. They will ship it via road freight and I will get it filled with battery acid when it arrives here.
Bye for now.
