BYH841 now fully registered !!!
Overnight we had news grandad is back in hospital. Hopefully he recovers quickly.
More focus on the FC to get it 100% finished while he is still well.
We had a busy day today to get the car on the road. First visit was to the tyre workshop, then shannons insurance, then AAA exhausts. The guys at AAA exhausts did a great job to tweak up the exhaust and make sure the clearance is correct. A small amount of damage was done to the diff by the exhaust rubbing.
After these we went to the big one - Regency Park for the rego inspection.
The inspection is for an identity check but they may pick you up for any obvious defects. They check to see if the car is stolen or rebirthed. Since they check the vehicles history, I asked them if they could find any useful history on the FC. Eg when it was first registered etc. No luck on that front, they expect that the information from the 70's and prior would be archived off on microfiche.
End result - PASS !!!!
I drove around to the Regency Park rego office and collected the BYH841 number plates. Photo to follow soon.
Today has been one of the big milestones completed on the whole project. I celebrated with a beer this afternoon.
Next outsourced jobs are the wheel alignment, and tune up. Also I need to chase a bit of a virbration noise/ bang when the motor decelerates. I thought this might be the exhaust but I'm not sure.
I'm hoping to get Kent Town Auto Tune to do the tune up. I remember using John to tune the torana a couple times 12 years ago. When I swapped to a turbo he spent a lot of time getting the distributor spark curve setup perfect, as well as getting the mixtures 100%. He was tuning on a dyno a long time before dyno tuning became popular.
Other jobs for me to complete are external sunvisor, door trims and handles, kick panels and a few other small bits and pieces.
Bye for now.
Peter.
